Pros and Cons of Cloud Computing

Cloud computing can easily be defined as the use of internet based services to support the business processes. You can also define it as the use of a common software, functionality add-ins, or business applications from a remote server that is accessed via the internet. Basically, Cloud computing, in simple terms is storing your information on a server which can only be accessed through the internet. Though it sounds promising, it has various glitches, here some of the major or the most common pros and cons of cloud computing.

One of the major selling points of cloud computing is that you do not have to have a large disk drive space on your computer. This is because you store all your information on a web server, so there is no need to rush for space, delete files, or even create CD or DVD backups of the files in your computer. All you require is a computer with internet connection on it and you can easily have access to your files. You can also create backup of your cloud computing account and store in on another cloud service just for safety reasons.

Privacy is usually a major concern when dealing with the internet. With identity theft on the constant rise, most people should worry about the safety of the personal information and files that are stored, if any, in the cloud account. A computer hacker, with malicious intent, could easily breach the system and steal your vital information like credit card details, bank accounts and many others. These are just but some of the cons that come with cloud computing, however, as the days go by these issues are continually being figured out and soon they may be a thing of the past.

Another perk of cloud computing is the ability to access your files and documents anywhere and at anytime. You are not required to carry your computer around at all times, Why carry your computer everywhere when you can carry your files anywhere? One good friend of mine asked me this when referring to cloud computing. With cloud computing, you only require your cloud account password, user name and a computer or any other gadget with internet connection and you get full access to your files and documents anywhere, anytime.

The above named benefit of cloud computing has two sides, the aforementioned (which is the good part), and now I shall tell you the flipside to it. When you come to think of it, cloud computing requires internet connection, in developing countries like Kenya, Chad, Uganda and many others internet connection is very expensive. So in the long run, cloud computing is deemed expensive because when budgeting for a computer, they do not require to pay for storage capacity on an n annual basis or even at all. Thus bringing you to my point, cloud computing is more expensive than the alternative because of the costs that come with it.

The above mentioned do not constitute all of the pros and cons of cloud computing, these are just a few of the most common pros and cons. Therefore, before making a decision, do your own research and figure out what works best for you.

Cost implications of finding a good cloud hosting provider are nothing compared to the cost and image implications that can be caused by a data breach or loss. Surprisingly, many top class providers give you a guarantee that should such cases occur under their watch, they take full responsibility of the breach and will meet all the compensation thereof resulting from the data loss. Businesses all over the world who are using the cloud computing have been very keen in choosing a provider.

Although there are good and big names in the industry, it is often recommended that you conduct an audit of your data systems, needs and expertise so that you get a cloud hosting provider that will offer you a compatible system. Cloud Storage Free

What defines a good Cloud storage free provider?

The development of cloud computing in the last half decade has seen huge innovation introduced to data management and monitoring. Companies all over the world have remained focused on making the most of the service and in fact, even for small businesses that may not have such a big budget on their hands can be able to take advantage of cloud storage free. Now many providers these days and particularly on the internet have been very keen on offering free could services. Even though it is hard to find an exclusively free service, there are many of those around. Considering the vulnerability and sensitivity of data in cloud computing, it is important to make sure that you find companies which can help you safeguard your companys data.

By asking the question what defines a good cloud storage provider, it will be easy to pick out the best from the rest. To begin with, one of the most important aspects relating to cloud computing is data security and therefore the most important and foremost analysis would be that hinged on the provision of secure systems. The security of your data in cloud computing is utterly essential even from a free provider. Some of the best cloud storage free companies that have invested resources in securing data have found extra clients based on the strong emphasis placed on data security. Taking time to analyze the security systems of the provider or reading through security reviews and audits from external auditors with regards to the provider you are about to choose should be a good practice.

Aside from security there is also the issue of technical capacity. When securing data on cloud, companies offering the services often develop very good data management systems. The good thing about a provider with a remarkable technical capacity is the fact that they are best placed to secure and effectively mange the data. As for many cloud storage free providers, the idea behind their free service is to always give potential customers a chance to feel the level of technical capacity they have and make suggestions and recommendations on how such systems can be improved. In finding a free provider it is also advisable to keep in mind the context which the service is offered free. Although you will get a free offer its highly unlikely that you will get it forever.

Many cloud storage free companies consider this service in order to offer their clients a reward or promote their service to would be buyers. In that case, before getting into a free storage company it is important to understand what is actually needed on your part. Cloud Computing Security

Best Practices for Companies Using Cloud Computing Security

Cloud computing for the last few years has grown considerably and is arguably one of the most important segments of the IT sector. The approach has provided a very unique and effective data monitoring and storage tool and many companies have been seeing the need to explore cloud computing based on its cost-effectiveness. However, even though the sector has been very popular, constant threats and risks associated with clouds have been hampering the entire process. For companies wishing to take advantage of the cloud, one thing that has to be guaranteed is the cloud computing security.

Google, one of the biggest cloud computing providers has invested a lot of resources in security systems and the following practices would be taken by companies in order to safeguard their data systems. Companies wishing to have effective cloud computing system have to consult widely. It is advisable to make objective inquisitions on the available security system from the right experts in order to find a data monitoring and security system that best suits the companys cloud needs. The emphasis placed on securing cloud data based on its vulnerability is very huge and therefore this preliminary step must be undertaken as a meter of absolute necessity.

Furthermore, companies should restrict data access to only personnel with administrative rights. Infiltration of the system by staff members can constitute a very serious breach of data security protocol. As a foot note, keep in mind that cloud computing security is constantly evolving and to keep in touch with current invention is ideally essential in being up to par with the set security standards. Another important practice in data security is conducting periodic audits from external experts to ascertain the security level of the data. The good thing about external audits is that they are best placed to pick out any weaknesses in the security system.

In pursuance to this goal, experts are highly recommended preferably IT Specialist with remarkable knowledge and experience in cloud computing security. When it comes to cloud computing, the margins for error are very little. Companies should also develop an expert driven password creation policy so that every person who has an access code is able to secure the code from unwarranted persons. This in many ways may look a very simple activity yet even so it is arguably the most important aspect of cloud computing security since it gives access to the data directly.

As for Companies with very delicate data in cloud, they should also develop their own security strategies and consult with the cloud provider in order to mainstream its own security into the providers strategy. Many cloud providers are always open to such an arrangement depending on the level of expertise shown in the systems developed by the companies themselves. Furthermore, try to ask your cloud provider where the data is being kept. With the location in mind, it is important to talk with the experts and data specialist to assess and analyze the location in a bid to pin point any potential leaks (if there are there that is) and recommend suitable solutions.

Cloud Computing Services

The modern web is an incredible tool that has changed our world in so many different ways. Responsible for most ever major advance in technology as well as the proliferation and democratization of knowledge, this simple little tool is easily the most important invention in the history of man ? at least for right now. And while it has shaped so many different industries in so many different ways, one of the most exciting (and relatively recent) has been in the area of data collection, retention, and backup.

While most people have traditionally used hard drives for the data collection on their computers (and it?s still ? and may always be ? the most common process all over the world), there has been a big push recently to go to more cloud computing services. This is because of several of the major drawbacks to hard drive technology. The first and most obvious one is that as a mechanical device they are guaranteed to fail at some point or another. And while cloud computing services are based off of machines as well, they are built with redundant systems and backup procedures that guarantee continued use even if part of the system fails ? something that some regular users are installing in their homes but still representing just a tiny segment. If your data is at all important to you this news should come as a big boost to help you sleep more peacefully.

And the second reason is that we are all constantly being bombarded with more and more mobile connected devices. The problem here is that each drive will only be able to share its information locally ? if you want to have your information, documents, and files available and synced across a range of different machines and operating systems you need to leverage cloud computing services. Here are some other reasons that cloud computing services make so much sense in our mobile world.

Access to virtual machines and technology from anywhere

Not all cloud computing services are dedicated to sharing your files and data ? there are many different solutions on the marketplace (and some of them are the most popular services available) that give you access to full blown tools and technologies. It?s not uncommon to find amazing applications, programs, and even full systems that you can access across a range of different devices, often with nothing more than a web browser. This allows the user to have amazing technological solutions and flexibility to leverage their time and devices.

Unparalleled capacity

When you are building your own physical systems, there is always a tradeoff between function and physical footprint ? to add more components you will need more space. This could be physical space on your desk or office or just the space available in your machine, but either way you?re dealing with a finite resource. And while this is still true when you?re talking about cloud computing services, they are almost always hosted somewhere else and are the providers responsibility. You won?t have to worry about the care or maintenance of the hardware or worrying about finding room for expansion.
